National Underground Railroad Freedom Center, Cincinnati, OH

Architectural Concrete Finish Achieved
Using RUNDFLEX Circular Wall Formwork System

Cited as one of Cincinnati´s “Nationally Significant Buildings“ the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center was created to comemorate the enslaved fugitives who sought freedom during the 1800´s. The Underground Railroad was a symbolic term given to the routes enslaved African Americans took to gain their freedom from prosecution. Former slaves and other “free“ individuals acted as conductors by aiding fugitives to their freedom. This 19th century freedom movement challenged the way Americans viewed slavery and freedom.

In order to recognise this chapter in history an $ 110 Million Learning Center has been built in downtown Cincinnati, Ohio.

For this contract, PERI was awarded the contract to supply formwork used to create the circular walls (RUNDFLEX) as well as shoring for high load applications (MULTIPROPs). SB Brace Frames were also used on this project to ensure that were kept in line during concrete placement.
