Integrated steel roadway slab with systems from the wide range of standard PERI products
The roadway slab was carried out as an integrated steel construction. PERI Engineers designed two mobile formwork carriages. They started from the West shore and worked towards the centre of the bridge in 10 m concrete sections.
They were each constructed of four transverse and longitudinal lattice beams and a centre carriage that was connected to the lattice beams with a vertical tension member. Most of the parts originated from the standard program of the HD 200 heavy-duty system. This resulted in cost reductions on the one hand and on the other hand the individual components could be transported easier through the small component sizes.
The movement of the upper carriage construction was made hydraulically over roller bearings, the centre carriage by means of a grab on wheels.
The actual roadway slab formwork was of PERI PD 8 tables and MULTIFLEX girder formwork on the cantilevered slabs as well as SKYDECK on MULTIPROP props for the centre carriage.
After a brief running-in phase this ideal formwork solution provided a rapid competion of the 26 concrete sections in a regular six-day cycle.
