PERI System Formwork
for Facing of Mined Tunnel
The commissioning of the Mrázovka Tunnel, part of the Prague ring road, has greatly relieved the congested road network in the south-west area of the city. Construction work consisted of two three-lane mined tunnels with lengths of 1,004 and 837 m as well as additional structures such as emergency bays, emergency exits, connecting galleries, ventilation service rooms and the network control facilities.
From a formwork point of view, the most interesting areas involved the facing of the tunnel in the transition phase where the three-lane tunnels changed to two independent one and two-lane tunnels. Here, over a length of approx. 50 m, the tunnel cross-section altered progressively by 6.50 m in width and 1.60 m in height.
In spite of the different tunnel dimensions and site requirements, PERI engineers and the contractor succeeded in finding efficient solutions for each particular section.
Nine cycles with section lengths of 5.50 m were chosen for one of the transition sections and ten 5.00 m casting steps for the other.
The formwork solutions used were based on the maximum possible amount of rentable system parts from the PERI product range. These could be optimally combined and easily adjusted to the different cross-sections.
