Accurate and Calculable Special Tables for the So-Called “Ice Cream Cone” Roof from PERI Assembly Specialists
In the historic north German town of Lübeck, directly opposite the town hall, the Peek & Cloppenburg retailing group commissioned the building of a new office and business centre. The roof construction comprises of horizontally positioned shell halves which resemble ice cream cones – the openings of which alternate down the length of the building – and constructed in reinforced concrete. The trapezoidal-shaped ground plan of 70 x 25 m emphasizes the dissimilarity of the individual arches.
The contractors were looking for an efficient and calculable formwork solution without cost-intensive pre-assembly on the site.
The PERI pre-assembly specialists put together 56 precision-made formwork elements whereby a minimum of filler areas had to be taken into consideration. Ready-toassemble delivery to the construction site followed. The MULTIPROP system was used as the sub-construction which provided optimal bracing for the individual tables and, with help of tilting forkheads, allowed perfect alignment to the changing slopes of the topconstruction. After the initial application, a three-week concreting cycle was achieved.
Frank Leder Supervisor “For the abstract and extremely demanding geometry of this roof construction, PERI provided us with an easy to use table concept with a minimum of filler areas.”
