Logistics Center of the Austrian Railway, ÖBB, Linz, Austria
Tight Schedule Fulfilled with PERI Standard and Customized Formwork
In order to remain competitive in the constantly increasing freight and parcel business, Austrian Railways commissioned the construction of a modern handling centre – the first of its kind in the country. The logistics centre, located in the marshalling yards, consists of a three-storey reinforced concrete structure (rail/truck deliveries as well as consignment level and integrated office space), a high rack storage area together with service units, stair cases and emergency exits.
60,000 m² of wall area and over 30,000 m² of slabs had to be formed in the six months allowed for the structural work. Approx. 30,000 m³ of concrete and 4,500 tonnes of steel were required.

Apart from the efficient use of various PERI systems such as SKYDECK for the slabs and TRIO for walls, columns and in-situ beams, the manufacturing of the over 12 m long precast beams on the construction site using TRIO panel formwork brought considerable advantages for the contractors: the suggestion of PERI engineers to do this on-site worked extremely well, eased the construction progress, and saved time and materials. |
